A dental emergency is any trauma or sudden problem that needs prompt care: severe pain, a cracked or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, swelling, or signs of infection. The first goal is always to get you comfortable.
Once you are out of pain, we explain exactly what happened and what it will take to fix it properly, so a crisis becomes a clear plan rather than a recurring problem.
Same-Day Pain Relief
Toothaches and swelling are treated promptly so you are not left waiting in pain. Call the office and we will find time for you.
Root Canal Treatment
When infection or damage reaches the nerve, a root canal removes it and saves the tooth, typically no more uncomfortable than a routine filling.
Tooth Extractions
When a tooth cannot be saved, we remove it gently and walk you through replacement options so nothing is left unaddressed.
Broken + Knocked-Out Teeth
Chips, fractures, and dislodged teeth are stabilized and restored. With quick care, a knocked-out tooth can sometimes be saved.

What counts as a dental emergency?
Any dental trauma or sudden problem: severe pain, a cracked or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, swelling, or signs of infection all warrant prompt care.
Does emergency care hurt?
Some emergency treatments are uncomfortable, but we work to keep you as comfortable as possible and to relieve the pain that brought you in.
Are root canals painful?
The treatment is typically no more painful than having a cavity filled. Some soreness afterward is normal and settles within a few days.
Can a knocked-out tooth be saved?
Often yes, if you act quickly. Keep the tooth moist, avoid touching the root, and get to the office as soon as possible.
Are emergencies preventable?
Many are. Once you are treated, we look at what contributed to the emergency and how regular care can keep it from recurring.

Emergency + endodontic terminology
- Abscess
- A pocket of pus that forms at the tooth root from a bacterial infection.
- Avulsion
- When a tooth is completely displaced from its socket by an accident or injury.
- Irreversible Pulpitis
- Tooth pain that occurs on its own or continues after the hot or cold trigger is removed.
- Tooth Fracture
- A break in a tooth, often from accidental impact, biting something hard, or a fall.
- Pericoronitis
- Inflammation of the soft tissue around a tooth that has not fully erupted from the gums.
- Dental Pulp
- The innermost layer of the tooth, containing the nerves and blood vessels.
- Pulpectomy
- Complete removal of the pulp tissue from inside the root canal.
- Pulpotomy
- Removal of the diseased portion of the pulp to protect the healthy pulp and the tooth.
- Impacted Wisdom Tooth
- A tooth that does not erupt properly and can cause pain or become infected.
